In spite of the rain, several thousand demonstrators showed up in behalf of equal rights this weekend. Approximately 15,000 people marched to decry inequality in wages and push for women's right to receive abortions.
United behind the colored banner, «Ensemble pour une réelle égalité», the masses were led by feminists from the Collectif national pour les droits des femmes (CNDF) and from the association Femmes solidaires, followed by several political heads, such as:Martine Aubry (PS), Marie-George Buffet (PCF), (parti de gauche), Olivier Besancenot (NPA). The demonstration took place in a heated context over the closing of several abortion clinics in the Parisian area.
