Ever heard of Emo R&B? Yea, it's an odd combination, but at least French artist Jena Lee has the guts to own it. The emo half of her music comes from the lyrical content, and the R&B half is definitely in the orchestration and danceability of the music. A suprisingly powerful combination.
The song's mood shifts several times, starting off very slow and bare, and building to the first chorus. I've always felt that French artists have no reason not to rhyme in their songs because everything in French rhymes. Almost all of her verses are ABABABAB and her chorus is just as full of rhymes. She maintains a tightness throughout her song that serves her well. Her chorus is extremely catchy and rings heartfelt:
Check it out, the number one song in France!
Much Love,
Pete
