Calling everyone! The French Club is opening its fall season on Tuesday, the 29th, with its annual movie night. Due to international copyright laws, this film will be showed for free in the JFSB, room B002. The movie begins at 7 but there will be an opportunity to join the French club officially and get some popcorn for the movie beforehand where the club leadership will have sign-ups next door at B003 JFSB starting at 6. Club dues are $10 and include admission to all French club activities for the year as well as a T-shirt.
This year they will be showing the French comedy smash hit, Le Diner des Cons , released in 1998 to great acclaim and popularity by celebrated French director Francis Veber. This is widely considered to be his masterpiece.
Last year we watched Francis Veber's latest release, La Doublure, and it was indeed very funny and everyone enjoyed themselves. Here is my hint to you as a veteran of these sorts of things. Each French club activity offers the opportunity to members to earn a "Fast Pass" to cheese night, the most popular and anticipated event the club puts on. At last year's movie night, after watching the movie, the trivia question that would have earned someone a fast pass was in relation to this movie, Le Diner des Cons. An oblong reference was made to the film during La Doublure and not a soul was able to identify it. So this year, brush up on your Veber films and hopefully you can walk away with a fast pass.
We hope to see you there.
