Stéphane Urbain, the chief sacristan of the Notre-Dame cathedral is also the cathedral's chief bell ringer.
In 2005 Urbain replaced the former chief sacristan, a position that also hold the responsibility of chief bell ringer.
Since then Urbain has made some changes to the way the bells are rung, sometimes ringing them to the tunes of some well known pieces of music. This has caused some controversy however, because the more the bells are used the more worn down they become.
